Patti L. Stephen, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer

A champion for equity and well-being, Patti Stephen is a nonprofit leader deeply rooted in the Western New York community.  Patti is driven by her signature character strengths of kindness and love, embodying the Ubuntu philosophy of "I Am Because You Are."  She is passionate about fostering individual well-being, educational and racial equity, and co-creating nurturing cultures of care.  Patti leads with compassion and an unwavering commitment to community building, supported by over 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector.

Patti serves on several boards and committees, including the National Partnership for Educational Access (NPEA), D’Youville University, Education Collaborative of WNY (EdCo), and advisory councils for the University at Buffalo’s Graduate School of Education. Having recently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Master's in Applied Positive Psychology, Patti co-founded C3 Community, a consulting firm dedicated to cultivating spaces that enhance well-being in individuals, schools, and organizations. Patti trained with Positive Acorns to become a positive psychology coach where she strives to help individuals identify and develop their strengths, improve well-being, and achieve their goals.  

Patti’s contributions have been widely recognized. The University at Buffalo’s Graduate School of Education awarded her the Dean's Service Award in acknowledgment of her dedication to equity and education. In 2021, she received the Outstanding Executive Award for her leadership in promoting equitable practices within her organization and the broader Western New York community. Her impact was further celebrated at the 2022 Business First Women of Influence Awards in the nonprofit leadership category, and was honored with the Buffalo Business First ’40 under 40’ awards for her community involvement In 2024, she received the Community Impact Award from the Beau Fleuve Music Culturally Activated and Community Engaged Initiative.

Patti's life and work are a testament to her belief in building connections and community, nurturing environments where everyone feels like they matter and can thrive.
